What will you be doing?

Are you looking for a hands-on role within a busy manufacturing environment? Do you take pride in producing high-quality work and enjoy being part of a supportive team? If so, we would love to hear from you.

We are recruiting for Factory Operatives to join our dedicated team at Terry Smiths Coffin Factory in Nottinghamshire. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your manufacturing skills while playing an important role in producing quality products that support families during some of life's most important moments.

As a Factory Operative, you will be responsible for carrying out a range of production processes to deliver industry-leading standards of quality and performance whilst ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety regulations.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Manufacturing a variety of coffins using established production methods and processes.
  • Working safely and efficiently whilst adhering to all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Meeting daily production targets whilst maintaining exceptional quality standards.
  • Following all standard operating procedures and quality control measures.
  • Developing skills across multiple production areas to provide flexibility and support across the factory.
  • Undertaking training and development opportunities, including external training where required.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain a positive and productive working environment.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues, suppliers, and other third parties.
  • Supporting initiatives that promote the Coffin Factory and OurCoop within the local community.
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, ensuring machinery, equipment, and work areas are kept clean, safe, and organised.
  • Undertaking any other reasonable duties required to support the operation of the business.

How will I know if I am right for this role?

To be successful in this role, you will be reliable, hardworking, and committed to maintaining high standards in everything you do.
You will have:
  • Previous experience working within a manufacturing or factory environment.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • A commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • A customer-focused approach and a desire to contribute to the success of the business.
  • Flexibility in your approach to working hours and tasks.
Desirable Experience
  • Experience working with timber, woodworking, or related manufacturing processes.
  • Experience operating production machinery and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing quality standards and production processes.
Whilst experience in timber manufacturing would be advantageous, full training will be provided on our specific products and processes.

At Terry Smiths Coffin Factory, you'll become part of a friendly, experienced, and supportive team where your contribution is valued. We are committed to developing our colleagues and providing opportunities to learn, grow, and develop new skills within a unique manufacturing environment.

Everyone is welcome here. We’re happy to make reasonable adjustments so that all our candidates can show us how they’ll perform their role. There is a section in the application form where you can provide any additional information.

Please use this section to include any reasonable adjustments you need, and we’ll do our best to support you through our recruitment process.
