What will you be doing?

Joining us in this role, you’ll be helping to support our retail business through the optimisation of both layout and product placements within our convenience and large stores.

As Micro Space Planner, you’ll be helping to maximise sales and reduce waste, whilst enhancing the customer experience.

This role will require substantial collaborative working- including with store teams to help understand their stores’ needs and challenges. This will help enable you to make sure that planograms are practical and support a positive working environment.

You’ll also be acting as key link between internal teams to help ensure a joined-up approach to product and space management.

You’ll get to take on a variety of responsibilities, including:

  • Creating and implementing planograms tailored to the specific needs of each store
  • Using sales performance analysis to effectively allocate shelf space
  • Working with our Commercial teams to integrate new products and promotions into store layouts
  • Monitoring and reporting on the impact of space changes on customer experience and sales – helping to shape future decisions
  • Identifying and trialling new innovative micro space planning techniques and software
  • Working closely with local suppliers to ensure effective product representation- supporting the local economy
  • Ensuring visibility of ethical and sustainable products within the store layout- in alignment with our co-operative values.
  • Communicating our space planning strategy and performance results to relevant stakeholders

How will I know if I am right for this role?

We are looking for an analytical thinker who brings previous experience in a retail space planning, merchandising, or category management role.

Through your previous experience, you’ll demonstrate the ability to analyze sales data, customer trends and store performance to help inform space planning decisions. In addition, you’ll be competent in using space planning software (i.e. Symphony, JDA/Blue Yonder, Spaceman).

You’ll need to bring a strong understanding of retail principles (including product adjacency, seasonal trends and promotional activities).

This role would suit someone who has good problem-solving skills together with the ability to identify opportunities for improvement.

Due to nature of this role, you’ll need to be comfortable and confident in presenting findings and recommendations to a variety of stakeholders.

A degree in a relevant field such as Business, Retail Management, or a related discipline is desirable but not essential.
