What will you be doing?

We have a great opportunity available to join our Compliance Team, as a Compliance Advisor.

Reporting to the Compliance Manager, the successful candidate will be helping to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory and internal policies across our Retail Food and Funeral Care operations.  This includes aspects of Health & Safety, Fire Safety, Food Safety, Fuel Safety, Trading Standards including Age Restricted Sales and Funeral Care.

This varied role will see you carrying out audits, providing compliance advice and support as well as problem solving when queries arise. You will be playing a pivotal role in maintaining a safe and legally compliant environment for our customers, members and colleagues. 

You’ll help with the delivery of risk assessments as well as investigate incidents.

As a Compliance Advisor at Central Co-op, you’ll help contribute to the development and continual improvement of compliance audit programmes. You will be supporting with the creation, review and rollout of policies, procedures and other compliance resources to improve both understanding and performance.

This role will see you working collaboratively with other departments as well as working closely with your fellow Compliance team members- sharing insights and best practice.

As you will be required to travel across our trading estate, some overnight stays may be required.

How will I know if I am right for this role?

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has a strong knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements across compliance. You’ll be confident in coaching and guiding colleagues at various levels as well as being able to demonstrate strong influencing skills- able to build trust and drive positive change.

 

You’ll need to be able to carry out sensitive checks in funeral care environments, demonstrating dignity, respect and professionalism at all times.

 

This role requires a high level of organisation and the ability to manage your workload effectively.

 

Flexibility with regards to travel as well as a full UK driving licence, are essential.

 

You’ll need to be confident using Microsoft Office programmes as well as experience with using digital system to complete audits, record findings and manage follow up actions.

 

You will need to have GCSE grades A-C (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

 

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Level 3 in Food Safety.
  • Level 2 in HACCP.
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent).
  • APEA certification, or relevant petroleum safety qualification.
  • A recognized qualification in alcohol licensing e.g. BIIAB Level 2 Award for Personal License Holders.
